Diamond Jigs - I like to add some flash to my diamond jigs. I buy the basic jig with a swivel and a few accessories. I can then change the look of the jig to whatever color the fish are hitting. Prisim tape, prismatic lure eyes and neon tubing are available in a number of colors. |
Neon Tubing, Diamond Jigs with Swivels, Open Eye Hooks, Prismatic Lure Eyes & Prisim Tape |
Cut the prisim tape to fit and put on the diamond jigs. I also like to add eyes to the jigs. |
There are a number of ways to cut the neon tubing. I prefer to cut it short with a split tail. I think the shorter size gives the jig more action and it's easier to switch tubing. |
Put everything together and you've got some really nice jigs. |

Braided Line & Conventional Reels - An easy way to keep braided lines from slipping on a spool is to wrap tennis racquet handle replacement grip tape on first. |

Penn Squidder - This reel features quick change spools and a 146 conversion kit that turns it into a smaller reel suited for braided and light lines. It casts great and with the low gear ratio is excellent for bottom fishing. It's a very versatile reel. If you're a Jigmaster fan there is a 501 conversion kit available which makes it a smaller reel. New parts and other manufacturer upgrades for both reels are easily available as well as used parts and reels on ebay. |

Newell 220 Reels - They cast great, are light weight, dependable and easy to clean. But, they don't fit on rods with trigger reel seats. A quick fix for this is to replace the Newell reel stand with a Penn reel stand. Another item I like for my baby Newell's is the Trig'rr Reel Clamp with my surf and boat rods. It fits the standard Newell stand and feels comfortable while thumbing or casting. |
I attached a Penn reel stand to the Newell on the left. |
Now it fits on all trigger style reel seats. |
I like these reel clamps on my boat and surf rods. |
Trig'rr Reel Clamps are a nice addition for casting and jigging. |
